BettingDiaryOrlando Pirates take on AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium with the winner set to lift the MTN 8 Cup.

PIRATES

Pirates won their quarter-final 2-1 away at Royal AM before seeing off Mamelodi Sundowns over two legs in the semi-finals. They drew 0-0 at home, but were too strong for Sundowns on the road winning 3-0 for a comfortable aggregate win.

Pirates are currently sitting in 5th in the League and their last match was a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto Derby.

AMAZULU

AmaZulu required extra time to beat Cape Town City away in their quarter-final and they drew the first leg of their semi-final at Kaizer Chiefs 1-1 before playing out a goalless draw at home and going through on the away goals rule.

AmaZulu are currently 7th in the League and undefeated in their last 4 starts although only 1 of those has been a victory that was their last game in the PSL, a 1-0 victory over Stellenbosch.

HEAD TO HEAD

These sides played to a 1-1 draw at Pirates earlier in the season in the League and they met in the Nedbank Cup back in February with Pirates winning 1-0.

Orlando Pirates won this trophy back in 2020 and that ended a 9 year wait after they had won in 2010 and 2011. AmaZulu have never won it.

VERDICT

I must admit to being sorely tempted by the draw as these sides have drawn 4 of the last 8 matches they have played against each other, but there was something about that Pirates performance against Sundowns that really impressed me and I think they are going to take this out in the 90 minutes.

Suggested Bet: Pirates win at 19/20
