WSB Logo Orange 80x80We take a look at the Nedbank Cup Quarter-Finals taking place this weekend and suggest a bet in each game.

Let’s start with a look at the Outright Betting where Mamelodi Sundowns are trading as 15/10 favourites ahead of Orlando Pirates at 3/1, you can get 5/1 Stellenbosch, 11/2 SuperSport and 17/2 and better the balance.

FRIDAY

Pretoria University v Mamelodi Sundowns – Click here to bet

This will be Pretoria University’s 4th match in the competition, having beaten Venda 2-1 on the road, Cape Town Spurs 1-0 at home and then Swallows 2-1 at home, meaning they have picked up two PSL scalps on route to the quarter-finals. They haven't tasted defeat in any competition since November of 2023.

Mamelodi Sundowns beat NB La Masia 6-1 on the road in their opening match and in the Round of 16 they saw off Maritzburg United 2-0 at home.

These sides haven't met since 2016 when Pretoria University were in the Premier League.

There is no doubt that if Mamelodi Sundowns is focused on this fixture they will get the win, but there is little value backing them at 3/10. Pretoria University are in excellent form and if Sundowns don’t take this one seriously, we could have an upset win.

Suggested Bet: Pretoria University win at 10/1

SATURDAY

Stellenbosch v Supersport United – Click here to bet

Stellenbosch are one of the form teams in the PSL and to reach the last 8 they beat Pretoria Callies at home and hammered Milford 6-1 on the road. Their last defeat in any competition came way back in September of 2023 and that was against Mamelodi Sundowns.

SuperSport United beat Cape Town City 2-1 at home in the Round of 32 before seeing off fellow PSL side, Richards Bay 3-1 on the road, a game where they started 11/10 favourites. There recent form has been a bit scratchy and they have only won 1 of their last 8 matches in all competitions.

SuperSport have picked up maximum points in their last 2 visits to Stellenbosch, but Stellenbosch did beat them in the MTN 8 Cup last year and I am going for a repeat victory for an in-form side.

Suggested Bet: Stellenbosch win at 13/10

AmaZulu v Orlando Pirates – Click here to bet

AmaZulu saw off Royal AM 1-0 at home in their Round of 32 clash before beating Sekhukhune 2-0 on the road to book their spot in the last 8. AmaZulu’s last 6 games in all competitions have seen under 2.5 goal backers collect profits.

Orlando Pirates hammered Crystal Lake 6-0 on the road to book their spot in the last 16, where they had few problems seeing off Hungry Lions 4-0 at home. Pirates went through a bit of a wobbly spell in the League, but bounced back strongly last time out, hammering Golden Arrows 7-1 at home.

These sides played out a goalless draw at AmaZulu when the sides met earlier this season, but I will be looking for a repeat of Pirates victory over AmaZulu in the Nedbank Cup back in 2021/22 when they won 1-0, albeit that game was at home.

Suggested Bet: Pirates win at 12/10

SUNDAY

TS Galaxy v Chippa United – Click here to bet

TS Galaxy beat Golden Arrows 2-1 away in their Round of 32 clash before a 3-0 victory over D’General away saw them into the last 8. Galaxy are one of the form sides around at the moment and they have won their last 4 matches across all competitions, including a 1-0 win over SuperSport United away in the League last time out.

Chippa United saw off NC Professionals 2-1 away from home in their opening match before booking their spot in the last 8 with a 2-1 home win over Ravens. Chippa United won their last League match 2-0 against Chiefs, their second League victory in a row, but it is their away form that tends to let them down, that is why I am going for TS Galaxy to book their spot in the last 4 with their 4th consecutive home win over Chippa United.

Suggested Bet: TS Galaxy win at 12/10
