BettingDiaryThe Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi is the venue for the final Formula 1 Grand Prix of the season and although Max Verstappen has the Title well and truly wrapped up the race for second place is very much on.

BRAZIL

If you followed our advice in last week’s column you were certainly in the money with our 16/1 tip, George Russell beating home teammate, Hamilton in Brazil and Carlos Sainz Jnr. completing the podium.

Aside from the 16/1 punt on Russell we also took 3/1 that both Mercedes would finish in the Top 3 so it was a clean sweep and some much needed cash heading into the festive season.

THE RACE FOR 2ND

Max Verstappen is currently on 429 points a massive 139 points ahead of Leclerc and Perez who are locked together in second place at the moment. George Russell is 25 points behind them so would need something of a miracle to finish second which is why he is 200/1 in the “Without Verstappen Market” where Leclerc is the favourite at 8/11 and Perez is on offer at 1/1.

LAST YEAR

Last Year’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was a real thriller with Verstappen winning the race and clinching the Championship ahead of Hamilton in controversial fashion, Carlos Sainz was 3rd. It was very much a clean sweep for Verstappen who also secured pole position and the fastest lap during the race.

Lewis Hamilton has won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 5 times and he will be hoping for a 6th as he goes in search of his first victory of the season.

Suggested Bet: Lewis Hamilton win at 3/1

We are switching Mercedes Drivers this week and I am backing Hamilton to get his first win of the season. He certainly showed plenty of pace towards the end of the Brazilian Grand Prix and if it wasn’t for the incident with Verstappen early in the race, he probably would have won it.

Verstappen while clearly hungry out on the track does seem to have seen his performance drop a bit since wrapping up the Championship and I think it is worth taking him on this week.

A reminder that at World Sports Betting you can back Hamilton and should he run 2nd, get your money back in the form of Free Bets. Terms & Conditions apply.

Suggested Bet: Points Finish, Valtteri Bottas, YES, at 12/10

I have been watching Bottas closely as we head towards the end of the season and his form has certainly improved in recent weeks with a 10th and a 9th place finish and if he can replicate that this week we are in the money.
