WSB Logo Orange 80x80The Imola Circuit plays host to this weekend’s Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and we take a look at the race from a betting angle.

Max Verstappen won the Miami Grand Prix two weeks ago when he beat his teammate, Sergio Perez by just over 5 seconds. Fernando Alonso was 3rd and Perez qualified in pole with Verstappen picking up the fastest lap.

Max Verstappen is 14 points ahead of his teammate at the top of the table and is yet to finish outside the Top 2 in the opening 5 Grand Prix’s. Fernando Alonso is 3rd on 75 points, 30 points behind Perez after finishing 3rd in four of the five races.

Max Verstappen has shortened into 1/8 favourite to defend his title with Perez price at 5/1 and 50/1 the balance. Bookmakers have also priced up a “Winner without Verstappen Market” and here Perez is a short priced favourite at 1/7.

EMILIA ROMAGNA GRAND PRIX

This will be the 4th running of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix with Hamilton winning the first one in 2020 and Max Verstappen going back-to-back wins in 2021 and 2022. In last year’s race he qualified in pole position before going on to win the race ahead of Charles Leclerc in his Ferrari and Sergio Perez in the other Red Bull.

Max Verstappen 9/20

Sergio Perez 15/4

Alonso Fernando 15/1

Lewis Hamilton 28/2

Charles Leclerc 28/1

George Russell 28/1

Carlos Sainz 33/1

125/1 and better the balance, all prices correct at the time of writing but are subject to change

Suggested Bet: Sergio Perez win at 15/4

It is hard to oppose Max Verstappen, but his current price of 9/20 is just too short for me especially when you consider that his teammate has beaten him in two of the five Grand Prix’s to date. Perez also had the fastest lap here in 2022 and if he does win the race and get the fastest lap we can double our winnings with the World Sports Betting Promo.

Suggested Bet: Podium finish, Charles Leclerc at 18/10

Leclerc has been battling this year with 2 retirements in his opening 5 Grand Prix’s and he has only had 1 podium to date. He showed last year that he likes the track though and I am betting on him to make a big improvement this week.
