The Bahrain International Circuit hosts this weekend’s Bahrain Grand Prix which gets the 2023 season underway. We take a look at the race from a betting angle.
Let’s start with a look at some of the long-term markets and Max Verstappen is trading as the short-priced 13/20 for a third consecutive World Title, Charles Leclerc is 4/1 with Hamilton 5/1 and you can get 14/1 and better the balance.

BAHRAIN GP
The Bahrain International Circuit is a modern, purpose-built circuit that has a mix of high-speed and slow-speed corners, as well as several long straights. The circuit also has a unique feature - it's one of the few tracks on the F1 calendar that is run in the evening, which means the track temperature and visibility change significantly throughout the race.
Given the characteristics of the track, we are looking for a driver who is good at managing tire wear, has strong straight-line speed, and can handle high-speed corners. The track also requires drivers to be able to brake late and accurately, and to be able to navigate slow, technical corners.
Charles Leclerc won this race last year and that broke a run of 3 successive victories for Lewis Hamilton. Max Verstappen is understandably priced as a favourite here, but I think Charles Leclerc could be the betting value at 9/2. Leclerc led his teammate, Carlos Sainz over the finish line last year to get his campaign off to a perfect start and the Ferrari is looking pretty good from what I have seen in pre-season testing.

Max Verstappen 15/20
Charles Leclerc 9/2
Lewis Hamilton 10/1
Carlos Sainz 12/1
Sergio Perez 12/1
22/1 and better the balance
Suggested Bet: Leclerc win at 9/2*
*World Sports Betting also have a nice promo running this week where if you back the winner and his teammate wins they will refund your stake in Free Bet Vouchers. Carlos Sainz is currently priced at 12/1 and that is a nice bit of insurance to have.
As you can see I am firmly in the Ferrari camp this weekend and I also like both drivers to finish on the podium and that is currently priced at 3/1.
Suggested Bet: Both cars podium finish, YES, Ferrari at 3/1
