I won’t spend too much time harping on my current newsletter run which is as bad as I can recall and I have been doing this for almost 2 decades.
It is a bit like being an opening batsman who just can’t find the middle of the bat and rather than playing and missing keeps getting that faint edge to the keeper.
Damn it, things have to turn and I find myself perhaps surprisingly excited about the knockout rugby that lies ahead this weekend, Finals rugby certainly gets the blood flowing.

UNDER 7.5 TRIES TO HALT THE SLIDE IN HAMILTON
I like quite a few bets this weekend and as things happen I have decided to get involved early with the opening Super Rugby quarter Chiefs v Reds in Hamilton.
The handicap looks well set but I reckon unders (points is set at 54.5) could be the play and more specifically under 7.5 tries.
Last season the Chiefs hosted 3 playoff games and the highest scoring was 49 points in this exact fixture against the Reds. The Chiefs won 29-20 that night and there were 5 tries, 3 to the Reds and 2 to the Chiefs.
McKenzie kicked plenty of penalties that night and I am hoping both teams take their 3 points in what looks like clear but humid conditions.
I feel the pain when a newsletter bet loses in more ways than one and here is hoping that I can strike an early blow against the bookies this weekend.
