Race 1

FIRE ATTACK showed very good improvement when second in his last start over 800m at Turffontein. Despite losing a length at the start, he showed good pace and fought hard all the way to the line. The son of Fire Away is a progressive type and if getting away to a clean start, he should be the one to beat.
READY SET FIRE raced from just off the pace last time, but found one too good in the form of Pistol Pete. He finished 5 lengths behind the top choice on debut. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and he may have to settle for the same result.
COSMIC SPEED is an unraced son of Querari from the Sean Tarry stable with Calvin Habib in the irons. He is related to multiple winners including Cosmic Highway and Cosmic Light. The betting market will be the best guide with regards to him and the other first timers in this contest.
Race 3
KADIZORA showed massive improvement in her last start over 1600m at Turffontein. She was running on too late when second behind Regal Daughter. The daughter of Querari is a progressive type and will love the extra 100m on offer. Muzi Yeni is back in the saddle and the combination may find themselves in the winner’s enclosure.
PATCHES OF GREY finished 3.5 lengths behind the top choice last time. The pair meet on the same weight terms today and she may have to settle for the same result.
HAPPY MO produced two fair efforts before given a 20-week break, during which time she would have strengthened up. She takes a big rise in distance and if not in need of the run, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 4
GREEN GARNET is lightly raced with good form lines to his credit. He rallied late when second over 1600m at Turffontein last time. The son of Gimmethegreenlight will love the extra 100m on offer and he should shed his maiden tag in this field.
ATARIME showed good improvement when second over 1600m last time. He got going too late that day and found one too good in the form of La Moohal. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. He is a progressive type and is one of the leading contenders.
MASTER CHRISTMAS is better than his last start over 1800m at Turffontein. It must be noted that the horse that finished fourth that day has come out and won since. On his previous form, he should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
Race 5
ALPHABETTY ran a fair race in her local debut over 1600m at Turffontein. She was reported to have cast a shoe in running that day. The daughter of Twice Over takes a slight drop-in class and she will strip much fitter. She is likely to be settled near the rear of the field and will be mowing down the frontrunners.
GIMMEALIGHT took on stronger in her last start over 1400m at Turffontein. She takes a drop-in class and gets the services of 4kgs claiming apprentice Trent Mayhew. On best form shown, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest.
DAMOSTAR was in need of her last start over 2000m. She won her only attempt over this distance. She will strip a much fitter horse and improvement is expected.
Race 6
MUNCHKIN was a tad disappointing in his last start over 1600m at Turffontein. His penultimate run when fourth over 1500m on this course, catches the eye. The son of Rafeef has dropped to a competitive rating and in this field, he can return to winning ways.
WORK OF TIME won a good race when shedding her maiden tag over 1160m at the second time of asking. The daughter of Rafeef takes a rise in class, but she has plenty of scope and should give a good account of herself.
PRINCESS ILARIA took on slightly stronger in her last start over 1200m. She has won once and finished third once from as many starts over this distance. If finding the form of her penultimate run, she should be competitive.
Race 7
PLATINA PRINCESS showed good signs of a form return in her last start over 1600m on the Turffontein Inside course. She has won once and finished second once from as many starts over this distance. The daughter of Danon Platina takes a drop-in class and back against her own sex, she should be the one to beat.
RUNWAY BOMB has good consistent form lines to her credit. She has won twice, finished second once and third once from as many starts over this distance. She will strip much fitter and merits healthy respect.
CALLMEWHENUNEEDME stayed on when fourth in her last start over 1000m at Turffontein. It must be noted that multiple horses from that form line have come out and won since. She must be included in all bets.
Race 8
LAW OF SUCCESS has not finished too far off the winner in her last three starts. She has won once, finished second once and third once from five starts over this distance. She jumps from a good draw of three and can return to winning ways.
CERULEAN DANCER stayed on when second over 1500m last time. She should have no issues with the drop to 1200m and is one of the leading contenders. She is carded to race on 25 January 2024 and her progress in that race will need to be monitored.
GIMME THE FLAME won a good race in her last start over 1450m on this course. She is back against her own sex and from her good draw of two, she should have a say in the outcome of this contest
