BettingDiaryThere is plenty of English Premier League midweek action to look forward to and we select 3 of the games taking place on Wednesday and Thursday and suggest a bet in each.

WEDNESDAY

ARSENAL v WEST HAM

Arsenal are currently 6th on the log, 2 points and 2 positions behind West Ham who sit 4th. The Gunners beat Southampton 3-0 at home in their last start and that broke a 2 match losing run with defeats away to Everton and Manchester United.

Arsenal have only lost at home once this season and have won their last 4 home matches in succession and had you been backing over 2.5 goals in Arsenal home matches you would have collected profits in 50% of the games.

West Ham have only won one of their last 5 matches, but they are undefeated in their last 3. Last time out they drew 0-0 away at Burnley, prior to that they stunned Chelsea 3-2 at home. West Ham have won 4, drawn 2 and lost 2 of their 8 away matches and like Arsenal there has been an equal number of games that have gone either above or below the 2.5 goal mark.

Arsenal 12/10

Draw 5/2

West Ham 9/4

Suggested Bet: Arsenal win at 12/10

Arsenal are playing some really good football particularly at home and West Ham are just giving signs that they may be on the slide. Looking at the head-to-head record Arsenal have won their last 5 home matches against the Hammers.

THURSDAY

CHELSEA v EVERTON

Chelsea have slipped to 3rd on the table 2 points behind leaders, Manchester City. They got back to winning ways last time out with a 3-2 home win over Leeds and prior to that lost 3-2 on the road to West Ham. Both teams have found the back of the net in Chelsea’s last 4 League matches.

They have only lost once on the road this season, but have drawn 2 of their last 3 home games and Chelsea home games have been high scoring averaging 3.4 goals each with 5 of the 8 matches delivering profits for over 2.5 goal backers.

Everton have slipped to 14th on the table after a horror run that has seen them win only 1 of their last 10 games and 7 of those matches have ended in defeat. They lost 3-1 away to Crystal Palace last time out and they have only won once in 8 attempts on the road this season.

Everton away games have averaged 2.8 goals each with 5 of the 8 matches reaching the 3 goal mark or more and Everton have scored 7 while conceding 15 times in those 8 games.

Chelsea 1/4

Draw 5/1

Everton 12/1

Suggested Bet: Handicap, Chelsea (-1) at 15/20

For this bet to arrive we need Chelsea to win by more than a goal something that they are well capable of doing against a struggling Everton side and looking at recent head-to-head records between the teams, this bet would have arrived in the last 2 matches hosted by Chelsea.

LIVERPOOL v NEWCASTLE UNITED

Liverpool are up to 2nd on the table and they have now won 5 matches in succession, most recently beating Aston Villa 1-0 at home. They have won 5 and drawn 3 of their 8 home matches and looking closer at the goal stats, Liverpool home matches have averaged 3 goals each with 5 of the 8 games delivering profits had you been backing over 2.5 goals.

Newcastle are sitting 2nd from bottom of the table and they were disappointing in going down 4-0 to Leicester on Sunday. Prior to that they did win 1-0 at home against Burnley and that was their only win in 16 matches this season. They have yet to win on the road and in 8 matches away from home have only scored 5 times while conceding 17.

Liverpool 1/8

Draw 17/2

Newcastle United 20/1

Suggested Bet: Over 3.5 goals at 8/10

Liverpool have been scoring goals freely at home or at least they were until the Aston Villa match. This bet would have arrived in 4 of the last 5 Liverpool home games and I am expecting them to be far too strong for Newcastle although I am hoping Newcastle can get on the score sheet.
