BettingDiaryWe take a look at 3 of the DSTV Premiership matches taking place this weekend including the big Soweto Derby between Pirates and Chiefs.

SATURDAY

ORLANDO PIRATES v KAIZER CHIEFS

Orlando Pirates are currently 4th on the log behind Kaizer Chiefs in 3rd on goal difference, but having played 3 games more. Pirates are unbeaten in their last 4 matches and they are coming off back-to-back goalless draws at home to Cape Town City and Golden Arrows. Prior to that they beat AmaZulu and Marumo Gallants also at home. Orlando Pirates PSL matches have averaged a total of 2 goals this season with 8 of the 21 matches reaching the 3 goal mark.

Kaizer Chiefs have only lost 1 of their last 8 matches and last time out beat Baroka 1-0 on the road. Prior to that they drew 0-0 at Cape Town City. Chiefs League matches have also averaged 2 goals each this season and had you been backing over 2.5 goals in all Chiefs matches you would only have collected in a third of the games.

Chiefs won the reverse fixture 2-1 earlier in the season and perhaps the most surprising stat to me, looking at the head-to-heads we have gone 5 matches now without a draw.

Orlando Pirates 33/20

Draw 2/1

Kaizer Chiefs 2/1

Suggested Bet: The draw at 2/1

You guessed it! I am looking to buck the trend of recent results and I am hoping we go back in time a bit to a point where the draw is almost a 50% chance in the big Soweto Derby.

Some other betting markets of interest if you think we could get goals, 19/10 is the price for Over 2.5 goals, a Correct Score of 1-1 will work out at odds of 4/1 and there are plenty of other betting markets available.

SUPERSPORT UNITED v AMAZULU

SuperSport have slipped down the table and are currently in 9th position, 3 positions behind AmaZulu who are 3 points ahead of them, but have played 3 games more. SuperSport have had back-to-back losses at home to Royal AM and away at Maritzburg United. Overall this season they have won 5 and lost 5 and no draws in those 10 matches.

SuperSport’s home matches have averaged 2.7 goals each with 60% of the games delivering profits for over 2.5 goal backers.

AmaZulu have been the draw specialist of the League with 14 in 22 games. Their last 2 games have been home draws against Stellenbosch and TS Galaxy. Only 3 of the 10 AmaZulu away games have reached the 3 goal mark and overall their away games have averaged 2.2 goals per match.

These sides drew 0-0 in the reverse fixture and last season SuperSport and AmaZulu played to a 1-1 draw when SuperSport hosted.

SuperSport United 23/20

Draw 23/10

AmaZulu 27/10

Suggested Bet: The draw at 23/10

I am quite surprised to be getting 23/10 the draw when I see that 0-0 the correct score line is only priced at 7/2. This looks cracking value given a high percentage of AmaZulu games that have finished level and the fact that these sides have a record of playing out stalemates as well.

SUNDAY

GOLDEN ARROWS v CHIPPA UNITED

Golden Arrows are 10th on the log and they are coming off a valuable 2-1 away win at Maritzburg United that broke a run of 5 games without a victory.

Chippa United are currently 14th on the log and they have only won 3 of their 20 matches this season. They haven't won in their last 4 games and last time out lost 3-2 at home to Marumo Gallants. Prior to that they drew 2-2 at home to Royal AM.

Golden Arrows won the reverse fixture 2-1 at Chippa United and last season this fixture finished goalless.

Golden Arrows 19/20

Draw 22/10

Chippa United 7/2

Suggested Bet: Golden Arrows win at 19/20.

I considered the draw in this game at 22/10 as it has been a common occurrence in the head-to-heads between the sides, but for me Golden Arrows should be that bit too strong for a Chippa United side that really battles on the road.
