cashThe latest Goodforthegame newsletter penned by @BrentGraham with best bets for the weekend 25th, 26th May including a 14/1 acca with @WorldSportsBet

I have been betting since the early 90’s driving 2 hours to Sun City for a punt on the Nedbank Golf and since online betting arrived on the scene there has barely been a week go by when I don’t have a punt of some sort.

During that time I have had some great wins but also some awful losing runs where it just seemed I could not do anything right. As my mate Brendan a keen horse racing man used to say “I could stop trains”

These past couple of weeks have been rocky to say the least and I still can’t get my head around how the Lions could only score 34 points against Cardiff and then despite being down to 14 men (13 at times) prevent top of the table Glasgow from scoring 23 points last week.

While reflecting on this I saw a post from GFTG veteran Southpaw saying he was cutting back on his rugby betting (choosing his games) as he was getting involved in too many games. I have decided to follow a similar strategy and am also keen to mix things up a bit with more bets on other sports.

More on betting strategy in coming weeks.

WEEKEND PLAYS
With only 4 rugby matches left I am not particularly strong on anything this weekend so will just go with a rugby acca

1 unit down at 14/1 at WSB – here is the code if you want to populate your slip 7559568

Blues -6.5 @1/1 – I can’t have this Saders team and reckon the Blues go back on top
Force +13.5 @19/20 – a nervous call this one but Force have been good to me
Highlanders -8.5 @10/11 – basing this mainly on Drua awful away form
Toulouse win at 11/10 – this should be a great final but I think the French team will emerge victorious

A GIRO-PSL DOUBLE
In the spirit of mixing things up a bit, Stage 20 of the Giro looks a belter with 2 massive ascensions of the massive Monte Grappe which is 18.1 km long at an average gradient of 8.1%, for some perspective Chapmans Peak is 4.75km with an average gradient of 2.7%.

Pogacar has dominated this race as he goes in search of a Giro-Tour double not done since 1998.

He doesn’t have to win today as he has the race wrapped up but he has announced he wants to win it and when he does that he tends to back the words with actions. His team should be able to control the early break until the 1st ascent of the Grappe and while I expect others that are not outright threats to attack early, his team UAE have the climbers to keep that on a leash as well.

When, as I believe is inevitable Pogacar goes I don’t see anyone staying with him and although cycling is not a sport where I regularly back short odds-on favourites I cannot look past him today.

He is 0.56/1 at Boyles and given he is a 3/10 shot in my book I have to find a way to include that in a double.

Step up Kaizer Chiefs who are away to Cape Town Spurs in the PSL today. Chiefs are not a side you want to bet the house on and they are coming off 3 draws but I think they are worth a punt against Spurs who are certain to finish last although have played their best footy when already relegated.
Chiefs won 3-2 at home when 9/20 favs earlier in the season and they sit 8th on the log with 2 teams behind them on goal difference and another 2 within 2 points. They need to win to finish 8th in order to qualify for the MTN8 Cup (this is the last day of the season) and not being a part of that will be a disaster for Chiefs – I am somewhat nervously going to suggest they get the job done against a side with nothing to play for and they are 11/10 at Boyles.

BET: 3 units Pogacar win onto Chiefs win at 57/25 at BoylesportsSA

Have a great weekend and think of me doing Karaoke tonight at my daughters 22nd at an undisclosed venue in JHB – last time I sang people standing outside thought there was a fire drill people were existing the building so fast!
