I am still trying to recover from a run of seriously late nights watching the PGA Championship. The fact that I stayed up late is generally good news as it means I had bets down that were in contention and I am pleased to report that thanks to Brooks Koepka I enjoyed an excellent weekend.
I had backed the big American to win at 22/1 and also took him at 10/11 to finish in the top 20 and 2/1 in the top 10. The bottom line was that I cleaned up but I certainly had some nervous moments down the stretch.
Koepka had started the round with a 2 shot lead but back to back bogeys on the front 9 brought the field back to him and at various stages both Scott and Thomas (who I had also backed) were level with him. The man causing the huge roars was a certain Tiger Woods though and I had some mixed feelings as I watched him charge.
I would love Tiger Woods to win more Majors which would be remarkable given his personal issues and injury problems but at the same time I was kind of hoping he wouldn’t start on Sunday when my money was on Koepka.
The course was too soft to be classified as a classic Major venue but the quality of the players at the top of the leaderboard made up for it and there is no doubt that having Tiger in the mix added to the tension. It may be many years since he has won a Major but there is little doubt after this performance that he is still the boss and golfs biggest drawcard.
At this point I would like to share some exciting news namely the launch of Goodforthegame TV on You Tube. We will be going out live with various betting related shows and our flagship show titled #Chatbetting will be broadcast at 21h00 tonight. In the show I link up with guests to talk about the weekends sport from a betting angle and you can find the show on the Goodforthegame channel on You Tube or alternately on our website or on Twitter where you can search for #Chatbetting.
The good news is the show is available afterwards for those who miss it live and we are very excited about this technology and appreciate any feedback.
